Studio rental from $65 per hour, with add-ons for sound, a group lesson, and event support. Bachelorettes, birthdays, wedding pre-parties, corporate events, holiday gatherings — all welcome at Baila Albany Dance Studio, Latham, NY.

Private Events We Host in Latham, NY

Baila Albany Dance Studio in Latham, NY hosts birthdays, graduations, weddings, showers, workshops and seminars, cocktail and networking mixers, corporate events and other private gatherings for up to 40 guests. Every event gets the full 1,500 square foot studio to itself, in the heart of the Capital Region.

Birthday Parties in Latham, NY

Milestone birthdays, Sweet 16s and intimate birthday dinners all fit the 1,500 square foot studio, which holds up to 40 guests. Add a playlist ($25) and speakers ($25), or have Felix Ortiz open with a 30-45 minute group lesson ($75) so the whole guest list is on the floor together.

Graduation Parties

A graduation party at Baila Albany gives family and friends an open floor for up to 40 people in Latham. Share the graduate’s song picks at least two weeks ahead so Felix can plan the flow, and add a wireless mic ($15) for the toasts.

Weddings: Pre-Parties, Rehearsal Dinners and Intimate Receptions

Baila Albany hosts wedding pre-parties, rehearsal dinners and intimate weddings of up to 40 guests. A group lesson ($75) teaches the entire wedding party salsa and bachata basics, not only the couple, and every wedding booking includes a pre-event consultation with Felix at no extra charge, including which style suits your first-dance song.

Bridal and Baby Showers

Showers suit the hourly rate, which starts at $65 and keeps a smaller celebration affordable. A banquet-style or open-room layout seats up to 40 guests, and a short group lesson ($75) gives a bridal shower a shared activity beyond the gifts.

Workshops and Seminars

Trainings, classes and seminars of up to 40 attendees can use the studio’s theater-style seating layout. Add speakers ($25), a wireless mic ($15) or a PA + mic ($35), and book 8 hours ($416) for a full-day session in Latham.

Cocktail Parties and Networking Mixers

The mixer layout leaves the floor open for up to 40 guests to circulate and meet. A PA + mic ($35) carries welcome remarks, a playlist ($25) sets the background, and a group lesson ($75) works as an icebreaker for people who have never met.

Corporate Events and Team Building

Albany-area holiday parties, Q4 team events and team-building sessions run well on a 4- or 6-hour rental ($234 or $332) with a group lesson ($75). You work with one point of contact at the studio and no outside DJ, and weekday time slots book best 3-4 weeks ahead.

Private Practice for Dance Partners and Teams

Couples rehearsing a routine, performance and competition teams, and wedding-dance couples practicing on their own can rent the 1,500 square foot floor at Baila Albany Dance Studio in Latham, NY. Book one to three hours at $65 an hour and add speakers ($25) to run your choreography on your own schedule.

Other Private Events

Bachelorette parties, retirement parties, quinceañera rehearsal celebrations, holiday gatherings and Latin-themed socials all book the same way. If your Capital Region event is not listed, tell Felix the idea and the guest count (up to 40) and he will shape the rental around it.

How booking works: Rent by the hour for 1 to 3 hours from $65, or choose a 4-, 6- or 8-hour package ($234, $332 or $416), add any extras, then send the inquiry form below with your event type, date and guest count (up to 40). Felix responds within 24 hours.

Latin Energy. Real Music. No Logistics Headaches.

Baila Albany Dance Studio is a dedicated Latin dance venue in Latham — and your private event deserves more than a bare conference room or a generic DJ. When you rent the studio, you get a 1,500 square foot dance space and access to Felix Ortiz: 25 years of Latin dance experience, plus add-ons for sound equipment and a guided group dance experience that gives your guests something to talk about long after the last song.

We host private events at our studio at 952 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham, NY, with room for up to 40 guests. Add a group Latin dance lesson led by Felix ($75) — not a warm-up, not background filler. An actual lesson your guests will participate in, laugh through, and remember. We serve the full Capital District: Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Clifton Park, and the surrounding four-county region.

Your Host: Felix Ortiz

Felix Ortiz, owner and lead instructor at Baila Albany Dance Studio in Latham NY

Felix Ortiz grew up in the Bronx — bronxsalsero is the handle he’s used for decades, and the name tells you everything. He moved to Albany in 2000 and has spent the last 25 years building Latin dance culture in the Capital District. Baila Albany is his third studio. Before this, he co-owned two earlier Latin dance studios in the region.

He has taught Latin dance at community wellness programs at Ichabod Crane Middle School, served as a pre-concert instructor at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs (Alex Torres concerts), and led events at The Glove Theatre in Albany and the Crowne Plaza Desmond Hotel. He competed in “Dancing with the Capital Region Stars” — a charity event that raised over $430,000 for local causes.

His grandmother is the reason he started dancing. She pulled him onto the living room floor at holiday gatherings as a kid. That same instinct — to make everyone feel welcome, to turn a room of strangers into a dance floor — is what he brings to every private event.

When you book a private event at Baila Albany, you’re not hiring a DJ service with a Latin playlist. You’re hiring an instructor who has spent 25 years reading rooms, adapting to mixed-experience groups, and making sure every guest — from the person who has never danced to the salsa veteran in the corner — leaves having had a real experience.

“To dance is to be happy. ¡Baila Conmigo!”

— Felix Ortiz, Owner, Baila Albany Dance Studio

How to Book Your Private Event

1. Inquire

Call Felix at 518-334-3483 or email bronxsalsero@gmail.com with your event date, estimated guest count, and venue (studio or your location). Felix responds within 24 hours.

2. Confirm

Choose your rental length (1–3 hours hourly, or 4, 6 or 8 hours) and any add-ons, finalize the date and time, and discuss music preferences or any group-specific needs. If you add a playlist, share your song ideas at least two weeks before the event so Felix can review the flow.

3. Dance

Show up and dance. If you add a group lesson ($75), Felix opens with a 30-45 minute guided Latin dance lesson (salsa, bachata, merengue blend — adapted to your group), then the music and energy keep going for the rest of your rental. No experience required from any of your guests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Studio rental is $65 per hour, or $234 for 4 hours, $332 for 6 hours, and $416 for 8 hours, for up to 40 guests in our 1,500 sq ft studio. Add-ons are priced separately: speakers $25, wireless mic $15, PA + mic $35, playlist $25, group lesson $75, and event support $50. You only pay for what you add.

Standalone wedding choreographers in the Albany area typically charge $300-$500 or more for lessons alone — before venue, equipment, or music. At Baila Albany you can rent the studio from $65 an hour and add a group lesson with Felix ($75), PA + mic ($35), and a playlist ($25). A 4-hour rental with all three add-ons comes to $369. For couples who want a Latin-energy wedding pre-party or rehearsal dinner experience rather than a full choreographed routine, this is significantly better value than separate lesson + venue + AV bookings.

Full wedding choreography packages from specialized studios in the Capital Region typically run $500-$2,500 depending on how many sessions are included. Felix’s wedding event format is different: rent the studio and add a group lesson ($75) to give the entire wedding party a Latin dance experience — not just the couple. A 4-hour rental plus a group lesson is $309. It’s the right choice when you want the first dance to be the beginning of a night of dancing rather than a one-time performance moment. Call 518-334-3483 to discuss what fits your wedding timeline.

Our standard format is a rental of the studio at 952 Troy-Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110. If you would like Felix at your own venue anywhere in the Albany Capital District — Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Clifton Park, Latham, Guilderland, and surrounding areas — call 518-334-3483 to discuss availability and pricing.

If you add a group lesson, Felix opens with a 30-45 minute guided Latin dance lesson — typically a salsa and bachata blend, adapted to the group’s comfort level. No prior dance experience is expected or needed. After the lesson, the event transitions to open social dancing. Music and dancing continue through the end of your rental time (1–3 hours hourly, or 4, 6 or 8 hours). Guests typically leave knowing at least the basics of salsa footwork and having danced with at least two or three people they hadn’t met before.

Rentals run by the hour, with 4-, 6-, and 8-hour options at $234, $332, and $416. The industry standard for a private dance event is closer to 2 hours; a 4-hour rental leaves real social dancing time after the instruction ends.

Both work, and Felix regularly blends them in a single event. Bachata is the crowd-pleaser for bachelorette groups — slower tempo, closer partner connection, easy for beginners to feel confident in five minutes. Salsa brings more energy and footwork excitement, and the “I can’t believe I just did that” feeling once the basic step clicks. Felix reads the room: if the group is nervous, he starts with bachata to build confidence, then moves into salsa once everyone’s laughing. Most bachelorette bookings end up doing both. Rent the studio for 4 hours ($234), add a group lesson ($75), and let Felix sequence the night.

For a wedding first dance: bachata is the most accessible for couples with no dance background — the slower tempo gives more room for error, and the body-to-body connection reads as romantic to guests even at beginner level. Salsa works beautifully if the couple wants high energy and crowd applause moments. Merengue is the easiest technically (marching-style basic step) and is a good warm-up. Felix’s standard recommendation: share your song with him, and he’ll tell you which style fits the tempo and your comfort level. He offers a brief pre-event consultation for all wedding bookings at no extra charge.

Dance requires the same skills as good teamwork: communication, listening, timing, and willingness to look a little ridiculous in front of colleagues. A 45-minute Latin lesson breaks down hierarchy in a way that trust falls and icebreaker games don’t — the VP follows the same steps as the intern, and the first person to laugh at their own footwork usually ends up the most popular person in the room. Felix designs the lesson arc specifically for corporate groups: easy wins early to build confidence, then progressively more complex moves so the group ends feeling accomplished. A 4-to-6-hour rental ($234-$332) with a group lesson ($75) suits Albany-area holiday parties and Q4 team events. Book 3-4 weeks in advance for weekday corporate time slots.

The studio rental is $65 an hour, and you add what you need: speakers $25, wireless mic $15, PA + mic $35, playlist $25, group lesson $75, event support $50. There is no outside DJ coordination to manage — you work with one point of contact at the studio. Generic Albany-area event venues typically charge separately for the space, AV equipment, and entertainment; here you pick only the pieces you want.

For Felix’s private wedding event format (pre-party, rehearsal dinner, wedding send-off), 4-6 weeks advance notice is sufficient for most dates. If you want a Friday or Saturday evening, book 6-8 weeks out — those dates fill faster. For couples who also want private pre-wedding lessons on top of the event booking, plan for 3-6 months. Felix works with venues across the Capital District including the Crowne Plaza Desmond Hotel and Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs — if your wedding venue is outside Latham, discuss on-location options when you call: 518-334-3483.

Three things make a difference. First, tell Felix your music — share the song you want to dance to at least two weeks before the event so he can plan the lesson around it. Second, wear comfortable shoes: low heels or flats for women, dress shoes or clean sneakers for men — avoid flip-flops on the hardwood floor. Third, be willing to laugh. Felix has taught complete beginners their first dance steps at 65+ years old. The lesson adapts to your group, not the other way around. No prior dance experience is required from you, your partner, or any of your guests.

Bachelorette parties, milestone birthdays, wedding pre-parties and rehearsal dinners, corporate holiday parties, team-building events, quinceañera rehearsal celebrations, bridal showers, retirement parties, and general Latin-themed social gatherings. Baila Albany also hosts regular Studio Socials (public, open-floor events) — those are listed at Special Events and are a different offering from private bookings. Private events are exclusively your group, your date, your experience. The studio holds up to 40 guests (1,500 sq ft). Call 518-334-3483 to confirm availability for your date and headcount.
